This was my first sunrise session! I asked a friend of mine to bring her kids out for a sunrise session and they came out excited and ready to go! My alarm went off at 5:30 am, I made my coffee as I always do every morning, loaded up my camera gear and took the half hour drive out east. I drove down to where the County road ends which leads you to this hiking trail with a small parking lot. I stepped out of my car and looked at the temperature gauge, 52 degrees. Super chilly by our spoiled California standards. Gina pulled up in her car, we got everyone changed into their clothes and off we went! The light was moving and changing so much. I really need to do more of these sessions.

Black and white photography, although colorless, strongly conveys emotion and drama in an image very beautifully. This month's Dear Photographer theme was 'Powerful Monochrome' and it was filled with all beautiful dramatic black and white portraits and certainly brought all the feels in most of the images. Truly honored and constantly inspired by these women and their vulnerability to get in front of the frame and create incredible photography. Can't speak enough about how special this photo is for me. When I took on this traveling dress project we didn't expect to be shooting this series indoors. But with the weather we made the best of the situation. Nevertheless a magical portrait was made of it. February LooksLikeFilm Feature Link is HERE Congrats to all of the other amazing artists who were featured. So much outstanding photos grace the pages of LooksLikeFilm . Truly always an honor.
This by far has to be my biggest feature to date. You guys... National Geographic! I submit this photo to several platforms and it go no love. I still loved the photo and kept trying. Well guess what a National Geographic editor liked it and featured it! Goes to show that just because one platform turns you down, keep trying other platforms, someone will love your shot and see your vision and that someone just might be someone at National Geographic. Avery is now immortalized. HAH! This photo was taken Easter Day before we went to Grandma's house. I had her playing in the hallway while I grabbed some shots of her. Definitely printing this one to hang in the halls. Click Here

When I first got into photography, I would sit at the table and fill my husband's ears with my dreams of me being a great photographer and taking rad photo like some of my favorites. One artist in particular that I just obsessed over her work, is Twyla Jones . I was drawn to her harsh light approach and her coastal locations but never in my wildest dreams, did I think I would be featured in her digital magazine! All of the hard work and hours of education are starting to pay off. It goes without saying, you can do anything you put your mind to. Check out my feature with my favorite people on page 17!
